Darcey Smith - owner
Growing up in Tempe, AZ Darcey learned to swim before she could walk. At the age of 8 Darcey joined a private synchronized swim club where she traveled on their nationally competitive team for 12 years. With a passion for aquatics she went on to become a Red Cross certified lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. As a swim instructor she trained and mentored under the owner of Desert Swim School, Janice Jaicks. In 1998 Darcey married her husband, Will and re-located to western Oklahoma. She continued her back yard swimming lessons, growing the small program to what Swimmin' Safe is today. Over the years Darcey has taught hundreds of young children and adults how to be water safe through her water safety focused swim lessons. In 2020 Darcey moved to Florida for a month where she trained with PediaSwim. After 100 hours of in water training Darcey finished her certification as a Survival Swim Instructor. Swimmin Safe grew to include lesson in numerous communities including Ardmore, Arnett, Weatherford and Altus. In Weatherford and Ardmore Darcey has mentored instructors who have gone on to complete their own PediaSwim certifications and then opened swim programs in those communities. Darcey is passionate about mentoring new instructors and bringing lessons on a consistent basis to new communities.  Darcey and Will have two children, a daughter Cadlyn and son Dalen. Cadlyn graduated from Oklahoma State University in May of 2022 and completed her PediaSwim certification in September of 2022. Cadlyn has now opened her own swim school, Cowboy Swim Academy, in Stillwater where she now makes her home. Dalen attends Southern Nazarene University on scholarship as a member of the football team, he is pursuing a degree in physical therapy with plans to open his own clinic.
